Sony releases two new upgrade cables for its hi-Res headphones

Sony quietly added two new upgrade cables for its hi-res headphones on its Japan website. The MUC-B12BL1 is balanced cable produced in collaboration with Kimber Kable. This cable is compatible with Sony's MDR-Z7 headphones and PHA-3 hi-res portable headphone amplifier.

The MUC-S12BL1 is not made by Kimber Kable, but is also a balanced cable for use with the Sony PHA-3 portable headphone amplifier. This cable is compatible with Sony's lower range of hi-res headphones, the MDR-1A and new "h.ear on" MDR-100A.

Both cables appear to be the same in design as ones currently available with the exception of the shorter length, 1.2m vs 2m. The cables are listed as available in mid October for the Japan market. We don't know if these will come to the U.S. market.
